John Langlois Quoted in "USAToday"

We spoke for over an hour. The bright, energetic reporter seemed truly interested in why people would go to the trouble and expense to acquire un-processed milk.

She reduced our conversation to the following quote,

"John Langlois feels so strongly about the benefits of unpasteurized goat milk that he pays $19 a gallon to have it shipped from a South Carolina dairy to his home in Estillfork, Ala. He credits it with giving him more energy, curing his grandson's chronic diarrhea when he was an infant and keeping the boy "steady" rather than "bouncing off the walls" now that he's 5." -- USAToday - 08/06/2006

While I applaud the notice that nutrient density received via USAToday's look at raw milk, I was disappointed that the comments from the government did not receive more scrutiny.

For example, several bacterial outbreaks associated with raw milk were noted, but none of the outbreaks from pasteurized milk were mentioned. They are exponentially higher.

Secondly, the FDA and CDC posit themselves as protectors of the public. However, many have noted that given the FDA's collusion with the major drug companies and the CDC's dismissal of significant evidence that suggests that vaccines containing mercury are associated with autism, that the integrity of both groups has been seriously compromised.

By the way, the reporter was incorrect in stating that those who purchase raw milk are breaking the law. It has never been illegal to purchase it. The problem comes upon the poor farmer who sells it. Moopheus

The reporter would have benefited with a follow-up article that addressed the politics of all of this.

How is it that the government permits the sale of cigarettes and the inclusion of known carcinogens in processed food, but forbids many Americans the right to even choose whether to consume unadulterated milk?

The politics of raw milk extend world wide. In Canada, farmers are facing jail time for daring to provide their clients with the nutrition they demand. At the same time, no CEO's are going to jail over drugs that have caused and are still causing fatalities.

Many consumers are finding local sources of good nutrition because it falls within that unalienable right of "life!"
