Carter - The Great Pyrenees
Although he should be living outdoors, Carter is such a charmer that he gets to come in most nights. He will sit by my chair and put his twelve pound paw on me until I agree to rub his head.
We have learned from him that paying attention doesn't require fretting.
Carter is a "one day at a time" dog. When assigned to guard the ducks and chickens, he just lays around, looking lazier than a teenage boy.
But let stray dog or a hawk enter the grounds and immediately he is at attention.
His deep, barrel chested bark can be heard by the neighbors a mile away.
Keeping Carter reasonably groomed can be an all day task.
He sheds hair like a teenager sheds clothes. One year, we let things go too far and his undercoat started getting matted. We had to resort to what the kids called "a lion cut."
Carter knew it for what it was, a "poodle cut." He was embarrassed for a month.
| I promised to do better, so we found a "fur-minator." | ; |

And if you are going to clip a dog like this you need professional quality clippers. The others can't handle the heat. |

To avoid brittle hair or relieve itchy coats, we have had great success with Halo's Dream Coat.
